A unified formulation of splitting-based implicit time integration schemes

چکیده

Splitting-based time integration approaches such as fractional steps, alternating direction implicit, operator splitting, and locally one-dimensional methods partition the system of interest into components solve individual implicitly in a cost-effective way. This work proposes unified formulation splitting schemes framework general-structure additive Runge-Kutta (GARK) methods. Specifically, we develop implicit-implicit (IMIM) GARK schemes, provide order conditions stability analysis for this class, explain their application to partitioned systems ordinary differential equations. We show that classical belong IMIM family, therefore can be studied framework. New IMIM-GARK are developed tested using parabolic systems.

Improved Implicit Monte Carlo Schemes Based on the Difference Formulation

This paper describes slab geometry studies of the difference formulation based on the original P0 formulation and a new P1 formulation. Hybrid schemes are presented, which combine the best features of the intensity and difference formulations. The aim is to design an optimal algorithm for general Monte Carlo radiation transport problems, suitable for use with both IMC and SIMC temporal discreti...

Comparison of two integration schemes for a micropolar plasticity model

Micropolar plasticity provides the capability to carry out post-failure simulations of geo-structures due to microstructural considerations and embedded length scale in its formulation. An essential part of the numerical implementation of a micropolar plasticity model is the integration of the rate constitutive equations. Efficiency and robustness of the implementation hinge on the type of int...

Explicit-implicit Splitting Schemes for Some Systems of Evolutionary Equations

In many applied problems, the individual components of the unknown vector are interconnected and therefore splitting schemes are applied in order to get a simple problem for evaluating unknowns at a new time level. On the basis of additive schemes (splitting schemes), there are constructed efficient computational algorithms for numerical solving the initial value problems for systems of time-de...

A class of semi-implicit predictor-corrector schemes for the time integration of atmospheric models

In this paper a class of semi-implicit predictor–corrector time integration schemes is proposed. Linear stability analysis is used to identify promising methods and these are applied to the nonlinear system of the shallow water equations on an icosahedral grid. The model used is a testbed for the future development of a more complete atmospheric model. Experiments with standard test cases from ...

On Semi-implicit Splitting Schemes for the Beltrami Color Flow

The Beltrami flow is an efficient non-linear filter, that was shown to be effective for color image processing. The corresponding anisotropic diffusion operator strongly couples the spectral components. Usually, this flow is implemented by explicit schemes, that are stable only for small time steps and therefore require many iterations. In this paper we introduce a semi-implicit scheme based on...
